How to Do the Nicole Kidman Dance

· 7 min read

The Nicole Kidman dance is a 14-second TikTok routine to ADÉLA's song "Nicole Kidman": a hand flicked from the lips, a prayer pose on "I pray", a hip roll on "Moulin Rouge", a corset squeeze, a biceps flex, a spin and a kiss on "I feel like Nicole". Dancers learned it in September 2026; by October AI cats, kittens and grandmas were doing it too. This guide covers who made it, every beat, the photos you need, the one-photo way, solos, duos, trios and pets, the do-it-yourself method and what goes wrong.

What the Nicole Kidman dance is

"Nicole Kidman" is the second track on PRIMA, the debut album ADÉLA released on Capitol Records on 4 September 2026. She wrote it after a Golden Globes party where a tight corset made her feel like the actress, and the music video is full of Kidman references, Moulin Rouge among them.

The dance came from TikTok. On 10 September 2026 dancer Kyler Irby (@ky.manson) posted the routine with two friends in a driveway. It has 2.9 million plays, and almost every remake credits him with "dc: @Kyler Irby". @rainysannie's version passed 8.4 million. In October the AI versions arrived: two ragdoll cats on a rooftop by @uni.ebi.ragdolls, "Nicole Kittyman", grandmas and girl groups.

Original trend clip

Is Nicole Kidman in it?

No. The dance is named after the song, and Nicole Kidman is the song's subject, not the dancer. It is not a scene from one of her films either. She does know about the song: at the London premiere of Practical Magic 2 on 26 August 2026 she said she knows who ADÉLA is and planned to see her perform.

Don't use photos of Nicole Kidman, ADÉLA or any other celebrity. Dance as yourself, with friends who agreed, or with your pet.

The 14 seconds, beat by beat

The original is one continuous take from a phone on a tripod, three dancers facing the camera, full body. Every move sits on a word of the hook:

TimeMoveLyric
0–2 sA hand flicks away from the lips, a hip pop"Every single night…"
2–3.5 sForearms roll open, palms pressed together overhead"…I pray"
3.5–5 sAn L-shaped arm and two hip popsThe build-up
5–7 sA hip roll, then both hands squeeze the waist"Moulin Rouge", "my corset is so tight"
7–9.5 sPaws up and a body roll"Babygirl"
9.5–11 sA double biceps flex"In control"
11–12.5 sA full spinThe turn
12.5–14 sA kiss blown off the lips"I feel like Nicole"

The kiss on "Nicole" is the ending everyone waits for. If your version runs late, cut the spin short, never the kiss.

What you need

  • One photo per dancer: one person facing the camera, full body if you can, face clearly visible. Or one cat or dog, the whole animal in view.
  • Up to three dancers: you, friends who agreed, your pet, in any mix.
  • Permission: your own photo, adults who agreed, or your pet. Never a celebrity or a child.
  • An AI video tool that takes a reference video: our Nicole Kidman dance template, or a model such as Seedance 2.0 with the original routine as a motion reference.

Method 1: the one-photo way (about 5 minutes)

  1. Open the template

Go to the Nicole Kidman dance AI video generator. The original routine is already set as the motion reference, with the song ready.

  2. Add the dancers

Upload your photo as Dancer 1. For a duo or trio, add Dancer 2 and Dancer 3: one separate photo each, not one group photo. Leave them empty for a solo.

  3. Pick a setting and the quality

Driveway, Moulin Rouge, Club stage or Living room. The video is 14 seconds, vertical 9:16, with the song laid underneath. Because it uses a reference video, it costs more credits than our other templates, and the same for one, two or three dancers.

  4. Generate and post

You get the MP4 in a few minutes; failed videos are refunded automatically. Post it with #nicolekidman #adela, credit the dance to @ky.manson and label it as AI-generated.

Moulin RougeThe red windmill in Paris at nightA nod to the lyric, like the friends who danced it in Paris

Solo, duo, trio or pet

  • Solo: one photo. You dance alone in the centre; the two side dancers of the original are removed.
  • Duo: two photos. Dancer 1 on the left, Dancer 2 on the right. Twins and best friends are the classic pairing.
  • Trio: three photos, like the original. Dancer 1 takes the centre, Dancer 2 the left, Dancer 3 the right.
  • Pets: a cat or dog dances upright on its hind legs and uses its front paws as hands, through the flex and the spin. Mix a pet with people if you like.
  • Grandma: one of the sweetest versions. Use a full-body photo of your mum or grandma, and ask her first.

Photo advice

  • Full body if you can. The camera shows the dancers from head to feet, so the model needs your build and your outfit.
  • Face clearly visible. No sunglasses or caps pulled low; the face has to survive the spin.
  • Dress for it. Whatever you wear in the photo is what you dance in.
  • Pets on their own. One animal, the whole body in view, not in someone's arms.
  • One person per photo. For a duo or trio, upload separate photos, never one group shot.

Method 2: make it yourself with an AI video model

This is a fixed routine, so image-to-video from a text prompt invents its own dance. You need a model that takes a reference video as well as photos (character replacement), such as Seedance 2.0.

  1. Get the clip

Use the original 13.6-second routine, vertical, at 720p. It is one take with no cuts, which is what reference models want.

  2. Send the photos and the clip

The photos decide who dances, the clip decides how. Pick 9:16 and 14 seconds.

  3. Write the replacement prompt

See the checklist below: say how many dancers, which photo goes where, protect the spin and keep the camera still.

  4. Add the song

Lay the trend's stretch of the song under the result from the first frame, so the kiss lands on "Nicole".

What your prompt has to cover

  • Say how many dancers. The original has three. For a solo, say the side dancers are removed, or strangers appear next to you.
  • Map photos to places. Say who is left, centre and right, and that each keeps their own face and clothes.
  • Never copy the original dancers. Say the identities come only from your photos.
  • Protect the spin. Faces melt during the turn at 11 seconds; ask for them to stay sharp and unchanged.
  • Pets stand up. Say the animal dances upright on its hind legs with its front paws as hands.
  • Keep the camera still. A tripod shot, full body, no zoom and no cuts.

Common mistakes and how to fix them

  • Extra dancers in a solo. The model copies the three dancers of the clip; say there is only one.
  • Out of sync. Use the clip as a motion reference instead of describing the moves in text.
  • The face changes in the spin. Use a sharper, front-lit photo, and say the face must match it in every frame.
  • A group photo for a trio. Upload one photo per dancer; group photos mix faces.
  • The pet drops to four legs. Say upright on its hind legs, and use a photo where the whole animal is visible.

Label your video as AI-generated where TikTok, Instagram or YouTube ask, and credit the dance to @ky.manson like the real posts do.

FAQ

Who made the Nicole Kidman dance?

TikTok dancer Kyler Irby (@ky.manson), who posted it with two friends on 10 September 2026. Remakes credit him with "dc: @Kyler Irby".

What song is the Nicole Kidman dance to?

"Nicole Kidman" by ADÉLA, track two of her debut album PRIMA (Capitol Records, 4 September 2026). The dance uses the hook that ends on "babygirl in control, I feel like Nicole".

How long is the Nicole Kidman dance?

About 14 seconds, the length of the hook. Our template makes a 14-second vertical video so the kiss lands on "Nicole".

Can I do it with my cat or dog?

Yes. Upload a photo of your pet as one of the dancers. It dances upright on its hind legs through the flex and the spin.

Is there a Nicole Kidman dance CapCut template?

Yes, but CapCut templates paste your face onto a clip that already exists. An AI generator dances the routine again with your face, your body and your outfit, or your pet.
