How to Make the Middle Finger Dunk AI Video
The middle finger dunk is a real 1v1 street-ball clip: a crossover, a drive past the defender and a dunk with the middle finger up at the camera. A day after it went viral, the AI versions started: "my prime 1v1 basketball", dads, gorillas and dogs dunking on their friends. This guide covers where it comes from, the play beat by beat, the photos you need, the one-photo way, friends and pets, the do-it-yourself prompt and what goes wrong.
What the middle finger dunk is
On 20 October 2026 @dihanator4000 posted a clip from a night 1v1 game on a park court: a player in a black tank top crosses over his defender, flies over him for a one-handed dunk and flips the middle finger at the camera while still at the rim, then the play again from two more angles in slow motion. The caption "Bro did an emote mid dunk" gave the trend its other name; it passed a million plays in five days.
Eleven hours later French creator @teuteuf6 posted the first AI version, "Mon prime 1v1 basket", with 1.2 million plays. CapCut templates called "Your Prime 1v1 Basketball Moment" followed, and the play moved to beaches, canyons and city courts.
The play, beat by beat
Our version is one continuous 10-second take from the free-throw line. It ends in a reverse dunk facing the camera, so the dunk and the gesture are both clearly seen:
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 0–2.5 s | At the top of the key: a crossover between the legs and behind the back; the defender lunges the wrong way |
| 2.5–4.5 s | The dunker blows past him and drives to the hoop |
| 4.5–6 s | Under the rim the dunker spins to face the camera and leaps |
| 6–7.5 s | The reverse dunk, back over the head and through the net, middle finger up at the camera |
| 7.5–10 s | The landing and the stare into the lens; the defender holds his head, the crowd erupts |
The original dunk faces away from the camera and the gesture comes over the shoulder. In AI video that usually hides either the ball or the hand, which is why the reverse dunk works better.
What you need
- One or two photos: you as the dunker, and a friend to dunk on if you like. One person or pet per photo, face clearly visible.
- Permission: your own photo, friends who agreed, or your pet. Never a celebrity or a child.
- An AI video tool that takes reference photos: our Middle Finger Dunk template, or a model such as Seedance 2.0.
Method 1: the one-photo way (about 5 minutes)
Open the template
Go to the Middle Finger Dunk AI video generator. The play is already written out, with the clip's sound ready.
Add the players
Upload your photo as the dunker. Add your friend as the defender, or leave it empty and the AI adds a defender in a black long-sleeve shirt.
Pick a court and the quality
Night park court like the original, Seaside court, Rooftop court or Desert canyon. The video is 10 seconds, vertical 9:16.
Generate and post
You get the MP4 in a few minutes; failed videos are refunded automatically. Post it with #basketball and label it as AI-generated.

Open the Middle Finger Dunk generatorWhich court?
| Court | What you get | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Night park court | Floodlights, dark trees and a crowd on the baseline, like the original | The closest remake |
| Seaside court | A court by the sea at sunset | Summer photos, dads in their prime |
| Rooftop court | A caged rooftop with the city skyline | Streetwear and night-out outfits |
| Desert canyon | A lone hoop between red cliffs | The most cinematic version |
Solo, on a friend, or with your dog
- One photo: you are the dunker; the AI adds a defender to cross over and dunk on.
- Two photos: your friend is the defender who lunges the wrong way and watches you hang on the rim.
- A pet dunker: it leaps to the rim on its hind legs and raises a paw at the camera instead of the finger.
- A pet defender: it jumps on its hind legs and gets dunked on.
Photo advice
- A clear face first. A full-body photo helps the jump, but a sharp face matters most.
- One person per photo. Two separate photos for dunker and defender, never one group shot.
- Your clothes come along. Hoodie, jersey or suit, everyone plays in the clothes from their photo.
- Pets on their own. One animal, face visible.
Method 2: write the prompt yourself
The original clip is a poor motion reference: it has two replays, a caption with emojis across the middle and a sponsor sign under the hoop, and a reference video copies all of that. Use a model that takes reference photos, such as Seedance 2.0, Kling or Veo, and describe the play in text.
Send the photos
The dunker first, the defender second. Pick 9:16 and 10 seconds.
Write the play
Use the checklist below: one take, a fixed camera, the crossover, the reverse dunk with the gesture, and the landing.
Add the sound
Lay the clip's sound under the result in CapCut, or add the trend sound inside TikTok.
What your prompt has to cover
- One take. A fixed phone at the free-throw line, no cuts, no slow motion, no replays.
- The beats in time slots. Crossover, drive, spin, reverse dunk, landing. Models skip the payoff if it is not pinned to a time.
- The gesture and the ball together. Say the ball clearly goes in while the other hand flips the finger at the camera.
- Who is who. Which photo is the dunker and which the defender, or describe the defender.
- No text. No captions, emojis or sponsor signs.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- The ball misses or floats. Ask for a reverse dunk straight down through the net.
- Melted fingers. Ask for clean hands and fingers, and keep the gesture to one hand.
- The defender is you too. Use two separate photos, or describe the defender clearly.
- Caption text appears. Do not use the original as a reference video; say no text or emojis.
- The pet becomes a person. Say the animal stays a real animal and plays on its hind legs.
Label your video as AI-generated where TikTok, Instagram or YouTube ask. Some platforms limit reach for rude gestures; the pet version with a raised paw is the safe one.
