How to Make the Raindance AI Trend

· 4 min read

The Raindance AI trend takes the pier scene from the music video for "Raindance" by Dave and Tems: one person waits at the end of a wooden pier at golden hour, the other walks up singing straight into the lens, and the two end up side by side on the sand. This guide covers where it came from, the six shots, the two-photo way, the do-it-yourself way and the mistakes to avoid.

What the Raindance AI trend is

"Raindance" by Dave and Tems came out on 23 October 2025 on Dave's album The Boy Who Played the Harp. The AI trend started with cats: on 25 September 2026 @yikes_301 posted two AI cats on the pier and passed 3.7 million plays. People moved on to couples, best friends, footballers and themselves.

The most copied version now is two creators putting their own faces into the real scene, like @unchained_off and KevkoYt on 8 October, which our template follows shot for shot.

The six shots

Raindance is an edit with hard cuts. Every convincing version keeps these shots in this order:

TimeShotWhy it matters
0–4.5 sOne person alone on the pier edge; the camera slides right and reveals the other walking upThe reveal sets up the story
4.5–6.8 sThe singer walks toward the camera, singing into the lensFirst close look at the singer
6.8–9.8 sSide by side on the sand, one singing out to sea, the other listeningThe two together
9.8–12.3 sQuick cuts: singer close up, then on the pier, arms out to the cameraThe rhythm of the edit
12.3–14 sExtreme close-up: a finger to the lens, then a tap on the chestThe ending people remember

Golden-hour light holds the whole thing together. A grey or midday sky makes it look like a different video.

What you need

  • Two photos, one person each, face clearly visible. Photo 1 waits on the pier, photo 2 sings.
  • An AI video tool that keeps two faces across cuts: our Raindance template, or Seedance, Kling or Veo.
  • The song, "Raindance" by Dave and Tems: added by our template, or picked in TikTok.

Method 1: the two-photo way (about 5 minutes)

  1. Open the template

Go to the Raindance AI generator. The pier, the light and the six shots are set up.

  2. Upload two photos

Photo 1 waits on the pier, photo 2 walks up and sings. Swap them to switch roles.

  3. Pick the look

Trend outfits gives you the purple windbreaker and the green cap from the clip. Your outfits keeps the clothes from your photos.

  4. Keep or drop the sound

The trend sound plays by default; pick No song to add the official sound in TikTok.

  5. Generate and download

Choose 480p, 720p or 1080p. You get a 14-second vertical MP4 in a few minutes; failed videos are refunded automatically.

Method 2: make it yourself with an AI video model

You need a model that follows a shot list and keeps two faces consistent between cuts. Seedance 2.0 handles multi-shot prompts well; Kling and Veo can work if you generate the shots separately and edit them together.

  1. Choose the model and format

Vertical 9:16, about 14 seconds, two reference photos.

  2. Add reference stills

One frame from each shot helps the model copy the pier, the beach and the light.

  3. Write the six shots

    See the checklist below.

  4. Add the song

Pick "Raindance" in TikTok, or lay it in CapCut so the cuts land on the beat.

What your prompt has to cover

  • Location and light. A weathered wooden pier over calm water, a sandy beach beside it, low golden-hour sun, soft warm grade.
  • Two roles. Photo 1 waits on the pier, photo 2 walks up and sings; both faces stay like their photos in every shot.
  • A numbered shot list. Six shots with times, from the dolly reveal to the close-up finger point.
  • Lip-sync. The singer's mouth follows the singing in every close-up.
  • Outfits. The purple windbreaker and the green cap, or the clothes from each photo.

Common mistakes and how to fix them

  • One long shot instead of cuts. Number the shots and give each a time.
  • Faces change between shots. Use sharp front-facing photos and repeat that both faces stay the same in every shot.
  • Wrong light. Ask for low golden-hour sun and a warm grade.
  • Silent mouth. Ask for lip-sync in the close-ups.

Label your video as AI-generated where TikTok, Instagram or YouTube ask. It is required on most platforms and does not hurt reach.
